Differences In Pictures

I have created this page to show the difference in smoke, fog, moisture and breath that may get caught on film while in the field of paranormal investigation. Also I will show examples of pictures that we believe to be of a paranormal nature.

We always test each picture we take before we post what we believe to be of a paranormal nature. We look for anything within our own pictures that may have a logical explanation before we post it as something out of the norm.

We have received emails from folks with a picture they had taken, wanting to know our thoughts on the picture given. We do the same tests as we would of our own and we then will get back to the person that submitted the photo telling whether it is the real thing or not with an explanation.....

By knowing the differences in a picture taken, and by testing the picture, one can make the assumption that they might have caught the real deal......

Lets look at the four stages of a ghost or spirit.....
  • 1/ The Orb... A round sphere of light. Some call it a ghost light that has a black dot within the orb and shows in vibrant color or that of a solid blue. Please check out our Orb article.......
  • 2/ Ecto Mist.... This mist, unlike smoke or fog etc, shows some form within the mist, the color of the mist is usually pale white....
  • 3/ Ecto plasm .... This type of mist shows as a blue mist with more defined lines at times ....
  • 4/ Apparition .... This is self explanatory, showing a figure of a person or animal.......

Lets look at the tests we do on any photo.....

  • 1/ Checking the picture for any explanation such as smoke, fog, breath, moisture, glare from a sign, camera strap, finger or thumb, car tail lights, lamp posts in the area etc.....

  • 2/ Posterize the picture., This is done using a program that will show what energy is within a spirit. The program will show many colors within the energy form caught on camera.

The main energy within any spirit will show as a solid white, while on the outside of the energy form will show in many different colors. The smoke, fog, breath, moisture pictures will show a solid white in the center with a slim deep blue line and sometimes a light blue line in spots within the fog or smoke etc .....

  • 3/ Negative.... With a spirit photo it will show a light-dark transparent black shadow within the photo.....

With the smoke , fog, breath pictures etc , it will show as a solid black shadow that has no transparency to it ............

Lets Look At Some Of The Differences

Cigarette Smoke

Test#1 The Regular Photo

In this photo it shows cigarette smoke being blown across the camera's field of vision. The smoke has no defined lines or shapes to it. Also it has no color patterns within the smoke. The smoke shows as a rolling blob of white mist that can be confused with ecto mist by some, as it has the same pale white color.

Test#2 The Negative

In this test it shows the smoke as a big mass of solid black in the center. In cigarette smoke there is no transparency to the black in the center. It shows no defined lines or shapes within the smoke and has no color that shows in the negative.

Test#3 The Posterize

In this test the smoke appears as a big blob with no defined lines or shapes to it. The dark blue and light blue you see on the outside of the big white mass is a reflection glare caught by the camera. These blue colors will only show on the outside of the smoke and only in some spots because smoke holds no energy.

The Spirit Form

Test#1 The Regular Photo

Unlike cigarette smoke this picture shows colors and defined lines and shapes as well as energy within the photo. The pale mist holds within it different colors that represent the energy of something forming (in our opinion). All spirits contain energy and energy is shown by color. Cigarette smoke will not show these different vibrant colors.

Test#2 The Negative

In the negative picture you can faintly see vibrant colors around the main energy form. Also please note that the main part of the spirit (the black portion) is transparent compared to that of cigarette smoke.

Test#3 The Posterize

In this test you can see the main body of the spirit that represents itself in white, similar to that of cigarette smoke. But the difference in this is the shape and defined lines that are shown. On the outer edges of the spirit you can see many vibrant colors in reds, blues, light blue, yellow, green, purple, dark orange, both within the spirit form and the edges, unlike cigarette smoke.
